  1. I was a combat infantry in the highland of V.N. 7/67-17/68. I was in heavy combat for that year. I remember much, I lost most of my squad in a day and so on, yet what I find in the Veteran circle down by the park is all the respect to the different branches of service, the one that received my attention was the one for the Hmongs, trusted , strong fighters who I knew had my back. Thank you Crescent City.

  2. It’s true that the committee running the Veteran’s Day parade and lunch is a completely independent entity, separate from the Vet’s Post. But the committee includes some of our local veterans. And it looks like they’ll have a nice lunch this year, catered by Marlo’s. And the lunch is free to Veterans.

Last year the person running it botched it. So far this year it looks like they’ve got it together. Still, I find it a bit of a shame that this committee insisted on running it themselves independently of the Veteran’s Post.

    1. Marlo’s did an excellent job on the food and there was plenty. This was probably the best attended Vet luncheon I’ve seen in 10 years.
Thank you to all that made it happen.

  3. Crescent City VFW Post 1381 Newsletter, October 2017: “This year the Veteran’s Day Parade and Dinner Committee, which is NOT a part of VFW Post 1381, will be providing (hosting)the meal on Veteran’s Day. We have no additional information at this time.”

As it has been in every recent year, local politicians place themselves in the front of the parade. Only two local office holding politicians are veterans; Mayor Blake Inscore and Bob Berkowitz.

  4. Your title date is Tuesday Nov 7, 2017 but you first sentance says:

Parade starts this morning, Friday, November 11th, at 10 am at Veterans Hall located at 810 H Street, Crescent City, California.

Did you just copy something from past years and and not even run it past your editor?
Last calendar I checked Veterans day is in four days and falls on a Saturday.
So I tend to not believe any other statement in your story.
