There’s a website that lists out National Days, many of them unknown or unheard of.

For example: yesterday, January 13th was:

  1. NATIONAL RUBBER DUCKY DAY –
  2. NATIONAL STICKER DAY –
  3. NATIONAL BLAME SOMEONE ELSE DAY –
  4. NATIONAL KOREAN AMERICAN DAY –
  5. STEPHEN FOSTER DAY –
  6. NATIONAL PEACH MELBA DAY

Can you guess what today is, January 14th?

NATIONAL DRESS UP YOUR PET DAY –  Have you seen how many dogs are being dressed-up? It’s a whole new industry. It was founded in 2009 by Celebrity Pet Lifestyle Expert and Animal Behaviorist, Colleen Paige. Recommendations to te sure it fits. Restricting movement or ability to breathe can cause injury or illness. Another good piece of advice:  Many pets like to chew. Avoid loose or dangling pieces which can cause choking hazards.

NATIONAL HOT PASTRAMI SANDWICH DAY –  Can you even buy a hot pastrami sandwich any place in Del Norte County?  New York kosher butcher, Sussman Volk is generally credited with producing the first pastrami sandwich in 1887, claiming to have gotten the recipe from a Romanian friend in exchange for storage of his luggage.  Due to the popularity of his sandwich, Volk converted his butcher shop into a restaurant to sell pastrami sandwiches.

NATIONAL VISION BOARD DAY This has nothing to do with eyesight.  It started with a group of friends in the entertainment and fashion industry.  They sat around and put up boards with ideas, hopes and dreams listed out and then worked towards making them realities. National Vision Board Day was submitted by Kellan Lutz and Ryan Daly in June of 2015. It was proclaimed by the Registrar of National Day Calendar in July 2015.

RATIFICATION DAY –  The act that officially ended the American Revolution is called Ratification Day signed in 1784.

Now hold on to your hats because TOMORROW is National Hat Day.

  1. I don’t think so. One has to go to Canter’s Deli in Los Angeles for a great pastrami sandwich, but Saul’s in Berkeley comes darn close.
